Sea Kayaking

Lake Michigan is the second largest of the Great Lakes. Because of its size, it is a dangerous lake. Be aware of the weather on shore. Strong winds on shore translate to large waves in the lake and currents formed by the wind. There is heavy traffic of large powerboats. You must pay attention to the water temperature and dress accordingly. Buy a bright colored boat and wear bright colored clothes. Always have a spare paddle. If you are paddling at dusk or dawn, make sure your boat has lights and put reflective tape on your paddle. Remember to wear sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, and rain gear if weather requires. Bring plenty of drinking water. Fishing and boating are some of the most popular activities on Lake Michigan.
