The Illinois and Michigan Canal is a National Heritage Corridor that runs through rural northern Illinois and offers excellent opportunity for recreation including snowmobiling in the winter. The the trail offers over 60 miles of riding and passes through four state parks. Snowmobiling is allowed on the trail if there is at least 4 inches of accumulated snowfall. The trail follows the path of the canal and is very flat. For current snowfall and riding conditions, contact the state parks along the trail.
