Located in the smallest of the designated wilderness areas in Illinois, this scenic area offers miles of trails that explore the area which includes a canyon of high cliffs and sandstone bluffs. The area is very remote and offers excellent scenery and wildlife viewing opportunity. There are multiple trails in the area, many of which are not marked, so pay close attention to be sure you are staying on the right trails. The area is very popular with hikers, backpackers, and birdwatchers, but biking and use of other mechanized vehicles is not allowed in the wilderness area.
