The Great Western Trail runs for 17 miles along an abandoned railroad line and offers a scenic, easy snowmobile adventure through rural countryside west of Chicago. The trail is open for snowmobiling when there is a minimum of 4 inches of snow on the ground. The trail is very flat and presents no major hazards or avalanche danger.
