The Des Plaines River Trail and Greenway is a scenic nature preserve in Lake County that offers excellent opportunities for recreation including snowmobiling. The preserve offers 8 miles of trails for snowmobiles to utilize. The trails are flat with no no major obstacles or avalanche hazards. Riding is only allowed there is at least a 4-inch snow base. The trails are open between December 10th and March 31st regardless of how much snow is on the ground.
