To get to the trailhead, follow Santiam-Sourdough Road for 11 miles to the Ten Mile Creek crossing near Six Mile Creek. The route follows along Ten Mile Creek with tread that lies close to the water in some places. The trail offers multiple-day trips with a variety of wildlife while going through the scenic Gospel Hump Wilderness. The route traces through timber stands of the South Clearwater Forested area, along with stream-side vegetation. The Ten Mile campsite located at the lower end of the trail has some facilities. Water is available along the trail, but it needs to be treated. A wilderness permit can be obtained from a Forest Service facility or a registration box.
