The reservoir runs along the southeast edge of the National Recreation Area, and its length is 25 miles long. On the Idaho side, Snake River Road and Hells Canyon Road wind along the edge of the reservoir. It is situated on the Snake River, Idaho's largest Wild and Scenic River. Beautiful cliffs and amazing rock formations surround the reservoir along the shores of the waters. Bass, catfish, crappie, perch, bluegill and rainbow are stocked in the area. Campsites, hiking trails, boat ramps/docks, and other sites surround the reservoir as well.
