This scenic route follows the north shore of Maui from Kahului to Hana Bay. The route is a rollercoaster of rolling hills. Exercise care as you cross the many one lane bridges along the route. There is no shoulder along most of the road, so be aware of traffic. Many waterfalls are visible directly from the road. A good place to break past the halfway point is Kaumahina State Wayside Park. The park offers picnic tables and toilets, but no drinking water. Along the final descent into Hana, enjoy some fruit from many of the roadside stands that dot the route. During the winter months, watch the shoreline for migrating whales.
