Blue Mesa Reservoir is the largest body of water in the state of Colorado. It is made up of 3 reservoirs that are connected to each other. It is bordered by the West Elk Wilderness Area, which provides famous hunting and fishing. The area is desert terrain with unique rock formations and beautiful mountains as a backdrop. Lake Fork Campground is near the reservoir’s dam. Prairie Dogs, and bird watching are common in the area. There are restrooms, a cleaning station and drinking water available.
