Bighorn Sheep Canyon is a popular section where you can expect many commercial rafters on a summer day. The beginning part is slow and relaxing as the river leaves the open valley and enters a granite boulder gorge. The river paralells closely to US 50 which makes for easy scouting and shuttling. The famous rapids in this section are Cottonwood, Little Cottonwood, Texas Creek, Maytag, and Devil's hole. They are all class III rapids.
